[Event Recap] What You Need to Know about the 2017 CMA Festival

Mountain Productions spent the weekend in Music City, USA, for the ultimate country festival – the 2017 CMA Music Festival. With the likes of artists ranging from Kenny Rogers to Thomas Rhett, the Country Music Association called on North America’s leader in staging and rigging to set the scene in Nissan Stadium. Here’s what you need to know about the ultimate country weekend in Nashville.

For 4 days each June, the Country Music Association’s CMA Festival brings nearly 100,000 country music fans and hundreds of the biggest artists in country music past and present together for the experience. Spanning far beyond the bars on Broadway and across the pedestrian bridge into Nissan Stadium, fans are guaranteed to have a good southern time no matter which honky-tonk, stage or pop-up performance they found themselves in front of.

CMA Fest, originally launched as Fan Fair in 1972, draws a sold-out crowd each year, with thousands of more Americans flocking to the home of country music for the chance to see free shows and pop-up performances around town. As in year’s past, Mountain Productions was proud to kick the dust up and lend their event production expertise to the star-studded, boot-kickin’ weekend.

The magic of this year’s event featured enough variety and surprises to leave any fan satisfied. Garth Brooks blessed fans with an unannounced set in Nissan Stadium, Darius Rucker joined forces for a duet with Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Kenny Rogers brought fans back to old country.

The excitement didn’t stop there. Keith Urban and Brad Paisley performed extended songs while playing their way through the crowd. Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, and virtually every other back-home roots and country boots focused A-lister brought their own special blend of country to the crowd who couldn’t get enough of the sets.

One of many surprise performers of the festival, country legend Garth Brooks sang his new single Ask Me How I Know to the roaring crowd.

Our signature MTN Truss HD+ stage system stood tall once again as the CMA Festival Main Stage inside Nissan Stadium. The set-up provided 80 feet of prime real estate for the biggest names in country to serenade, celebrate and get to know the sold-out crowd. The performance area was accompanied by two 40 feet wide audio bays and stood 80 feet tall, ensuring every seat was a prime spot to catch your favorite country artist. A number of other ancillary structures were also put in place, including camera tracks that will bring the get-down to national television later this summer.
