Gear Inspection Tips – Part 1: Fall Protection & Safety

Manufacturers require it and we greatly encourage proper inspection of equipment. We’re in an industry that requires countless tools, systems, products, PPE, on-site safety systems, and more. With all of these moving parts it’s important to make sure everything is in working order before bringing it to a job site.

Here are a few of the essential items that we encounter on a day to day, and the inspection tips that can keep your gear working day after day. As recommended, all inspections should be documented for future reference. In our first post of this 2-part series, we’ll focus on fall protection and safety equipment.

Size matters, but sometimes bigger doesn’t always mean better. We’re excited to officially announce our newest addition to the MTN BOX® product line: The MTN BOX® Spektrum Series SM Road Case. The MTN BOX®: Spektrum Series SM offers the same level of durability and strength as our original MTN BOX® design, but in a compact, reduced size that is ideal for various truck packs.

The MTN BOX®: Spektrum Series SM is constructed of super tough nylon resin polymer and is 10X stronger than traditional ATA flight packs. This case provides whiteboard areas for organization, stackable caster cups for stability when stacking multiple cases, heavy duty smooth rolling casters, and a super strong steel recessed frame for weight displacement and added durability.

[EVENT RECAP] Minus Zero Festival

Springtime is here, but in Vermont, avid skiers and snowboarders are still hitting the mountains for as long as they can. This year, Stratton Mountain Resort hosted the Minus Zero Winter Sports & Music Festival on April 9 & 10. The Minus Zero Fest is a dynamic show, with main stage set up right at the bottom of the mountain (quite the scenic view for a festival!). Skiers, snowboarders, and guests enjoyed 2 great days of riding, day-time relaxing, and late-night partying with Minus Zero’s electrifying DJ lineup. Mountain Productions provided staging for the festival, and provided mobile stages for the main performance area.

Site surveys are a kickoff point for any project, and require the necessary gear to get accurate measurements and site drawings. We’ve assembled this pack to accommodate all of the measuring equipment you will need, including Leica’s D810 DISTO and L360 LINO. Don’t forget your eye protection—we’ve packed a pair of Leica’s GLB30 Glasses for your viewing comfort. Additionally, this pack contains various length tape measurers, surveying flags, tripods, and more.

ShamrockFest welcomes thousands of fans to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the “largest St. Paddy’s Day Festival” of the year. The 2016 ShamrockFest took place this past Saturday, March 12^th at RFK Stadium, and hosted 30+ bands, DJs & performers, multiple stages, carnival rides and much more. Mountain Productions has provided staging for the festival multiple times throughout the years, and returned again this year to join in on the fun.

It’s one of our favorite times of the year, and now that it’s over, we’re already brainstorming how to make next year even better. Our 2016 CM Hoist School welcomed attendees from all over the country, and representatives from 7 major industry brands who came together for 5 days of hands-on training, education and fun. (If you’re like us, we love getting our hands dirty with some motor maintenance!)

Attendees shuttled into Mountain Productions on Monday, ready to jump right in to class. Half of our students were introduced to Dave Carmack and began their training in Lodestar maintenance and repair, while the other students sat with Eric Rouse for the rigging seminar.

The MTN BOX: Tough on the Job, Easy on the Environment

Sustainability is a popular buzz word these days, but the importance of eco-friendly practices and products is hard to deny. We manufacture our MTN BOX road case shell out of 90% post-industrial recycled material, and build these cases to last the long haul. Also, our MTN BOX product itself is recyclable, and can be taken to a local recycling center that accepts LMDPE (Linear Medium Density Polyethylene) when the product is no longer in service.

Recycling and maximizing the usage of recycled material is one of the best ways to have a positive impact on the environment, and ultimately the world that we live in.
