Understanding OSHA vs. ANSI

I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all encountered and are familiar with “OSHA” and “ANSI” over the course of our careers. These two organizations have helped articulate and enact many of the accepted safety standards/regulations that maintain safe working conditions and compliance in the equipment we use, on a daily basis. OSHA and ANSI regulations affect every aspect of the entertainment industry, but do you know the difference between the two?

[EVENT RECAP + PHOTOS] Foo Fighters @ RFK Stadium, July 4th

One of the shows we provided staging for on the 4th of July was for the Foo Fighters at RFK Stadium. We built our biggest system, the Mountain Truss for the main stage, as well as delay towers, ADA platforms, mix positions and camera platforms. The Mountain Truss stage stood 80’ tall with 40’ wide sound wings and a 60’ turntable onstage. For the delay/spot towers, Mountain Productions built their newest delay tower design, utilizing our Mountain Truss towers. The 2 support structures were 70’ tall with 3 spot baskets integrated into each tower. This new design provides a sleek, unobtrusive tower design with impressive capacity.

What is Suspension Trauma?

We spend a lot of time training with our safety gear. After all, a product is only as good as the knowledgeable person using it. From donning a harness to establishing anchor points at height, our crews are always trained for heightened awareness when it comes to safety (and if you aren’t, what are you waiting for?).

Along with knowing the proper use and handling of fall protection items on site, workers also need to be aware of the dangers that occur after an incident happens, and how to quickly act. We invest a lot into fall protection systems to prevent the unthinkable, but there are always inherent dangers that come with our jobs that we can’t always avoid.

Combined with custom printing, softgoods can transform your event into a unified, branded experience. Here are the 4 most common softgood materials that we just can’t live without, starting with…

Vinyl Mesh

Applications: Stage Audio Bay Panels, Masking, Custom Print Branded Softgoods, Chain Bags

Our most commonly used softgood material is our vinyl mesh. Our 14oz. Vinyl Coated Polyester (VCP) Mesh is a standard in the industry, and serves a variety of purposes in both our staging and rigging departments. If you think of our stage systems as the bare skeleton, softgoods are the skin.

Unmatched Comfort & Protection: Mountain Productions Now Distributing KASK Helmets

A hard hat is a mandatory safety product that, no question, saves lives. But just because they are an industry wide priority doesn’t mean that all helmets are comfortable and optimized for the user’s protection. Our crews wear them all day; shouldn’t they invest in a hard hat that will keep them concentrated on their work, and not the comfort of their equipment? Mountain Productions is proud to announce that we are now distributing KASK Super Plasma and Hi-Vis Super Plasma helmets.

KASK Height Safety Helmets

Designed specifically for working at heights, KASK’s Super Plasma helmets are lightweight, tough, and extremely comfortable thanks to quick drying fabric, 10 points of air ventilation, and an innovative adjustment system for easy, yet precise fitting.
