Since the mid-1990s, the New York Caribbean Carnival Parade attracts millions of people annually, far surpassing the combined attendance of Coachella, Lollapalooza and South by Southwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The carnival parade led to a 4-day festival, which was held behind the Brooklyn Museum from the Thursday before Labor Day through the weekend. Mountain Productions was on site to ensure this year\u2019s carnival brought the same sense of celebration that the founders dreamt up several decades ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FBrooklynLaborDayCarnival%2Fvideos%2F1658036147563281%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>2017 marked the 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of performers celebrating Caribbean carnival and culture. On such an historic mile marker, this year\u2019s theme was \u201c<strong>From a Dream to a Legacy<\/strong>\u201d. The dream behind the West Indian American Day Carnival, WIADC, was to celebrate Caribbean culture and unify the growing number of Trinidadian and other Caribbean descendants living in Harlem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/www.mountainproductions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/21312977_114054582603761_4032881463815831552_n.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Its legacy, more than 3 million attendees strong, marks the largest gathering of its kind, all in the name of Caribbean culture, arts, history and traditions. Opening Thursday, with \u201cReggae Unda Di Stars\u201d, performances from top reggae performers and a special appearance by Bob Marley\u2019s son Stephen got the celebration started. The party continued all weekend long with flag-wearing, dancing, and plenty of Caribbean and calypso performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rich culture of islands beyond our borders lives on through the annual New York Caribbean Parade and Festival.
