One of the most important weeks of our year is not necessarily one of the hectic, fast-paced weeks in the midst of the summer season, but rather our annual safety training week<\/strong> at the beginning of the year. This is a mandatory week dedicated to educate and refresh our employees on safe work practices. This year, the training consisted of various safety speakers representing many familiar brands including 3M, Milwaukee, CRC, Brady and more. The first three days of Mountain\u2019s safety school welcomed Jeff Burd of the PA Department of Labor who certified all Mountain employees in CPR and AED.<\/p>\n

Friedman Electric\u2019s safety division hosted Day 4 of safety training and brought speakers from Brady, Louisville Ladders, 3M, CRC and Milwaukee. Brady covered an important safety topic with our crew \u2013 lock-out-tag-out procedure, and ladder safety was presented by Louisville Ladders. 3M, CRC and Milwaukee discussed personal protection equipment, respirators, power tools and hazard communications.<\/p>\n

The final day of safety school featured classes aimed specifically toward our road personnel. Our weather monitoring partner, WeatherOps, provided a class on their new mobile app along with holding an open forum discussion where tweaks to the app and website were discussed. WeatherOps is an extremely valuable tool for our onsite supervisors, as well as our engineers and operations back at our office. Mountain Productions\u2019 Ronald Wilkinson held a hands-on demonstration of our fall protection<\/a> and rescue equipment, and all Mountain employees recertified their forklift and aerial lift cards.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re excited to see safety come to the forefront more and more in our industry. With the help of organizations like the Event Safety Alliance<\/a>, we should all make it our priority to keep our employees trained in safe workplace practices.\u00a0We extend our thanks again to the informative vendors we were able to partner with for this year’s Safety School.<\/p>\n
