In Part 1 of our coverage of hoist servicing<\/a>, we discussed the inspection process and the steps that our rigging department take to ensure your hoists<\/a> are in top condition.\u00a0Even though an annual inspection is performed to certify your hoists are in proper working order doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take care of your hoists every time you handle them. Maintaining your hoists will result in a longer lifespan and less repairs required when inspection rolls around.<\/p>\n

Tips on Maintaining a Proper Hoist<\/b><\/h2>\n

We use weather covers at our own location to protect our motors from the elements<\/p><\/div>\n

Because many of our events occur outside, it’s important to be prepared for the often unpredictable, but unstoppable force called Mother Nature.<\/p>\n

One way that you can protect your motor is using a weather cover<\/a> during outdoor use. For any outdoor show, applying a weather cover to every motor is in your best interest, as it offers shielding from the elements. Here in NEPA, the weather is sometimes very unpredictable, with a rainstorm coming on suddenly and dissipating just as fast. Leaving an uncovered motor in a rainstorm will eventually lead to water damage and a myriad of potential problems with your hoist. We recommend weather covers for outdoor events, especially if the stage will be standing for multiple days.<\/a><\/p>\n

Attachable handles make carrying your hoist convenient and comfortable<\/p><\/div>\n

A factor that is easy to overlook, the proper handling of your motor is another way to maintain a hoist.
